- Description:So this was at Cologne Zoo, the sloth was clearly distressed and in my opinion the walk through enclosure needed to be closed. I spoke with a zookeeper for sloths at Edinburgh Zoo and they said this is the most stressed out animal they have ever seen. There needs to be harsher restrictions for enclosures like this such as not allowing children to climb to be nearer to an animal or for shouting and screaming. No one would like this in their home so why do you think animals would be any different? They are no different to us, thoughts and feelings are still there, overstimulation still happens. This kind of traumatic behaviour needs to be monitored and sorted out. There is a duty of care and if it is not met then that is animal abuse.
