  • Description:Hi again Thank you for showing your interests. Well the dog’s name is Holly and she is a Golden Retriever. Then the Alpaca’s name is Teddy. The family I work for had Holly for about 6 months when they decided to buy 3 Alpacas for Father’s Day in June. I always used to bring Holly with me to the horse yard (since I worked with their horses) so that she could run around and have fun since they didn’t have any other dogs to play with her. When the Alpacas first came I had Holly with me at the yard and thought she might chase them as she had never seen anything like them before. At first they were all very weary of each other, but you could tell that Holly really wanted to play with them. Teddy was the most inquisitive and friendly out of the 3 Alpacas, so I guess that’s why Holly took to him first. It started out where Holly would say hello to them by touching noses through the fence. When she got a bit more confident she would run into the paddock for a bit, and run straight back out. This must have seemed like a game to Teddy because he would chase after her in a playful manner every time that Holly would be in the paddock. Eventually Holly decided that Teddy was a lot of fun, and wasn’t going to hurt her, so she started laying on her back right in front of Teddy. Teddy would then run his head on Holly’s belly and nibble on her toes. They really just loved each other’s company and didn’t see any difference between each other. They thought that they were exactly the same. So every time I would go down to the yard, I would bring Holly with me and she would just bolt straight to the Alpacas field to play with Teddy and let him groom her. These two would play continuously for the next two hours that I was at work. Many times I would find Holly sitting with them inside of their wooden shelter in the hay, especially if it was raining. This has been going on for the last year and a couple of months. The Alpacas have now been moved into a huge field right in front of the house, and every time the owners take Holly for a walk in the field, Teddy races across the field to go and see her. They are such weird best friends, but you can see how much they love each other. I hope this can be of some help. Let me know if you need anymore information. Kind Regards Bronwyn
